Parents Use Check It at Home
Step 1: Get to know a few of the Check It tools
First try a few tools yourself. Then use Check It with your child to help them learn new words, phrases, questions, etc. There are many options for you to change how Check It works. Find options under the Select Targets button. You can use the defaults to get started.
Step 2: Click Check It
You and child will work side by side to use the tools. Using your phone you can work anywhere you are with your child. You hold the phone and show it to your child to have them respond. To start, choose 1 of the 16 Check It tool buttons such as:
- Find It
- Imitation
- Instruction
- Say It
Step 3: Select a Home Activity
Have your phone in hand and do Check It before or after an activity like these examples:

| Read a book | Learn Sounds | Play sounds and identify them. Play a find the sound game. |
Step 4: Keep It Simple
- Try a few targets at a time in short bursts throughout the day
- Select multimedia reinforcers that your child likes to provide that fun engagement.
- Praise and celebrate their progress — Frequent success builds confidence!
